The General Purpose of Epoxy

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

Epoxy coatings are used for a wide range of things, from paint and coatings for metals and floors to strong glues. With the help of a polyamine hardener and an epoxide resin, epoxy coatings can be made through a chemical reaction. When these two chemicals are mixed together, a process called "curing" takes place. After a few minutes to a few hours of this process, the epoxy coating changes from a liquid to a solid that is very strong and reliable.

Epoxy and epoxy coating compounds are used for many things because they can make things that are strong, safe, and resistant to chemicals. Epoxy coatings are also used in a wide range of marine, automotive, and electrical applications, as well as in composite materials like fiber glass and carbon fiber, and in manufacturing plants. They also use epoxy coating compounds and epoxy materials, such as long-lasting glue, in many different ways.

EPOXY COATING BLENDS AND PAINTS

One of the most common ways to use epoxy coatings is to use them as paints or coatings. Epoxy coatings are becoming popular because they are strong, dry quickly, and protect metals and other materials. They are great for a number of uses because, unlike traditional heat-cured powder coatings, they are easy and quick to use.

Epoxy coatings are used by professionals for some of these main reasons:

  • Flooring uses: epoxy coatings are used as epoxy flooring paint in commercial and industrial flooring.

  • Coating for metal containers and cans: An epoxy coating makes it easy to keep metal containers and cans from rusting, especially when they are used to store acidic foods like tomatoes.

  • Coatings that keep steel from rusting: Fusion epoxy powder coatings are used to keep steel fittings and pipes from rusting when they are used in concrete reinforcing rebar, water transmission pipelines, and the oil and gas industry.

  • Marine and automotive uses: An epoxy coating can be used as a primer to make sure that paint sticks to boats and cars and to stop corrosion.

Epoxy coatings are often used as the powder coating on dryers, washers, and other "white goods" because they are easy to apply and last a long time.

EPOXY COATING FLOORING APPLICATIONS

When used as a flooring solution, an epoxy coating will make for a long-lasting and strong floor. Epoxy coatings are also used over concrete floors in a number of commercial and industrial settings, such as aero plane hangars, garages, showrooms, hospitals, warehouses, industrial plants, retail and commercial stores, manufacturing plants, and more.

You can also get a decorative, high-gloss finish with epoxy coatings and floor paints, which come in many different styles and colours. When you put an epoxy coating on a floor, you can use coloured aggregate flooring, chip flooring, or terrazzo flooring to make it look nice. You can put an epoxy floor coating right on top of new or old concrete floors because it is resistant to chemicals and easy to clean.

At Epoxy Central, you can get epoxy, novolac, and urethane coatings that are scientifically designed and made for a wide range of home uses. Epoxy Central has the coatings you need, whether you want to cover the floor of your garage, your kids' playroom, or your work station.
